The Coalition to Repeal CON is a nonprofit organization (501c4) solely focused on repealing South Carolina's Certificate of Need (CON) law. Repealing CON was a priority for both the Trump and Obama administrations!
What is CON?
The CON law mandates approval from state government before any health care provider constructs new healthcare facilities, expands existing ones, or offers certain healthcare services.
Does this affect me? YES!
The law creates a monopoly (or cartel) on the health care market - keeping costs high and restricting access. Think about that. Our government created a law to block competition from entering into the health care market.
Without competition, the health care cartel can control where you get your care and charge whatever price they want.
So what can we do?
Repeal the Certificate of Need (CON) law. Seventeen states across the country have passed a full repeal of their CON law leading to lower costs, more access, and higher-quality care.
Who are we?
We're a coalition of physicians and patients who want to improve health care in South Carolina.
